Funemployed Overview

Funemployed is the most accessible game for a classroom that is present on this website.  It feels more like a teaching tool than a board game, kind of like Timeline.  The premise of the game is simple, players are given qualification cards that they have to mention during a job interview.  The job is revealed to them during the interview process.  The judge declares the winner after a round.

The cards keep everything engaging in the game.  Cards are really out there, players need to think on their feet to make connections between the cards and the job.  It sets up for very comedic interviews that observers will enjoy as well.

How to play in class (Difficulty: Easy)

It is really important to scan through the cards to remove any inappropriate cards, there are quite a few.

Rather than playing this game as a board game, play it as an activity where you may have 4-5 students on a given day do their interview in front of the class.  It is important to establish a culture in the classroom first that the game is not competitive and for students to respect each other through the process.  Using this game as a break from the school routine will add some excitement among students when you pull it out of your bag.  The game helps students with public speaking and can be used for training for a competition like DECA.

As students get better at the game, you can change up the rules that students can only look at one of their qualifications at a time DURING the interview process.  This will force them to think on their feet.

Another variant is to have 2 people apply for the same job together with different qualification cards.  They would need to work off each other to ensure that they are both qualified for the position.
